Clergy, Staff & Vestry

Saint William Laud Episcopal Church is thankful for the dedicated services of clergy, staff and volunteers who help fulfill our mission. They include:

- Priest-in-Charge

The Reverend Terry Matthews earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theology from the University of Scranton in Scranton, PA. She went on to earn the Master of Divinity from Yale. After seminary she was ordained into the sacred order of the priesthood and answered calls to serve in the diocese of Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New Jersey and Texas. Over the course of her service she has worked as a hospice chaplain, retreat director, youth coordinator, renewal coordinator and as a religious education director. She also studied, practiced and participated in spiritual direction, pastoral counseling and various liturgical services and ceremonies. Prior to her experiences within the Roman Catholic and Episcopal Churches and while nurturing a young family, she owned a studio of dance and taught ballet, modern and jazz dance to both children and adults. This experience enabled her to develop a form of liturgical movement which she taught at interfaith retreat centers and churches. Terry has also studied, performed and still enjoys music, acting, interior, design, riding horses, gardening, walking swimming and yoga.

“I’ve been able to travel throughout the US and abroad. All of these experiences brought me to appreciate the sacredness of everyday life. Throughout the writing of my faith story, I practiced various forms of prayer and meditation. This enabled me to remain connected and grounded to the transforming love of God which is the core of my story and the reason I now find myself able to accept the Spirit’s invitation to combine our gifts and begin this new chapter with you here at Saint William Laud.
I hope that we can move into our future confident that God’s transforming love will heal, restore and renew us so that we can become increasingly aware of how our individual faith stories and spiritual gifts are needed to communicate the good news of Christ’s love to our friends in Pittsburg.”
